Dental Crowns

A damaged or decayed tooth can be painful and make it difficult to eat or speak properly

A dental crown restores the tooth, helping it look and feel like new again.

Our dentists in Los Algodones, Mexico, provide natural-looking zirconia crowns starting at $350 so you can smile confidently once more.

What is a Dental Crown?

A dental crown is a tooth-shaped shell made of porcelain or zirconia. Crowns are a restorative option used in a variety of treatments at our Los Algodones dental practice to address issues such as:

Repair a Damaged Tooth

A dental crown can be used to repair a damaged or worn tooth. It is also used to provide strength to a weak tooth. This allows your tooth to look and function just as your natural tooth would to restore your oral function.

Protect a Tooth After a Root Canal

Root canal therapy clears infection from a tooth, but requires making a small opening in the tooth structure. A crown can be used to cap the tooth following treatment to give the tooth strength and protection.

Replace a Missing Tooth

For those missing a single tooth, a dental crown can be paired with a dental implant to fill in the gap. These implants act as artificial tooth roots to provide the jaw with the stimulation it needs to remain healthy.

A dental implant is surgically placed into the jaw. Next, an abutment is attached. This allows the dental crown to be secured to the implant.

Providing Advanced Care With State-of-the-Art Technology

At Castle Dental, we use advanced techniques and technology to provide the highest level of care possible. Our advanced technology includes:

Intraoral Cameras

Intraoral cameras allow our dental team to get digital impressions so we can craft a beautiful crown that blends seamlessly with your natural teeth. This eliminates the need for messy putty impressions that many patients find uncomfortable.

CAD/CAM

Using digital impressions, we are able to fabricate your dental crowns using CAD/CAM. Our on-site lab uses these impressions to create custom crowns in as few as one to two days. We can craft both porcelain crowns and zirconia crowns to meet your needs.

Concerned About the Cost  of Your Dental Crown?

We understand that dental work can be expensive, especially in the United States where the cost of care continues to rise. We strive to provide affordable treatment. Our zirconia crowns start at $350-$450. However, if you need additional work like dental implants or a root canal, your treatment cost will increase.

Dental Crown Timeline

Every patient has unique needs, so this timeline may vary. If you need preparatory work such as a root canal or implant placement, this will also change your treatment timeline.

Consultation

During your consultation, your dentist will examine your mouth to determine if a dental crown is the right treatment for you.

Area Numbed

The area is thoroughly numbed using a local anesthetic before treatment begins so that you do not feel any pain.

Tooth Prepped

Next, your dentist will reshape the tooth structure to allow the dental crown to fit properly on the tooth and blend with your other teeth.

Impressions

Digital impressions are taken of your teeth and mouth in order for your zirconia or porcelain crown to be crafted.

Temporary Crown

Your dentist will place a temporary crown to protect the tooth while you wait for your permanent crown to be crafted. A permanent crown is usually ready the following day.

Permanent Crown

Once ready, your dentist will bond the permanent crown to your tooth. All that is left is for you to enjoy your new smile.

Have questions about treatment?

See How a Dental Crown is Placed

The dentist will remove some enamel from the tooth and reshape the structure so that the dental crown will blend seamlessly with your natural teeth. Our Los Algodones dental clinic fabricates and mills beautiful dental crowns in-house in about two to three days.

How Long Does a Crown Last?

Crowns are made of durable porcelain or zirconia. With proper care and maintenance, your dental crown can last for years. Here are a few things to remember to protect your dental crown for years to come:

Be Mindful of Hard or Sticky Foods

When possible, chew foods like hard, raw vegetables or sticky caramel with a tooth that does not have a crown.

Don't Use Your Teeth as a Tool

Do not use your teeth to open packages or bite your nails. This can damage your natural teeth as well as your dental crown.

Are There Alternatives to Crowns?

For minor damage and wear to a front tooth, a veneer is a great alternative. A veneer is a thin porcelain shell that fits over the front surface of a tooth. However, if you had a root canal or a severely damaged tooth, a veneer will not adequately protect the tooth structure.
